About this guitar

This hand-crafted guitar is unique in its price range because I have not found a similar instrument on offer in South Africa that has its features. It has very pleasing lines and proportions and features a two-way truss rod, a recessed armrest,  a bowl cutaway, and a 12 hole bridge. The truss rod allows for adjustments to the neck relief in the event of changes due to extremes in Relative Humidity or ageing. The recessed armrest is both attractive and functional as it provides comfort for the right forearm. The bowl cutaway allows ease of access to the frets above the 12th while sacrificing less internal air volume than the usual cutaway designs. It has 14:1 ratio machine heads. This is an easy guitar to play and overall it is far superior to any guitar at its price-point on the South African market that I have tested.

Evaluation of the Dr Peppler Classical Guitar range

By Luigi  Marucchi    Luthier    Feb 2017

I have inspected the four guitars offered for sale on the Classical Guitars SA website and comment as follows:

The overall workmanship and build quality are excellent resulting in well-built and balanced guitars.

The prices of the guitars on offer are well within the range of fair value.

The Performance Grade guitar is an exceptional instrument for its price. A solid AAA top and laminated ebony back and sides make it both attractive and clear sounding. The two-way truss rod, inbuilt bevel relief (armrest), and bowl cutaway make this instrument very comfortable to play and are added features usually found only on much more expensive guitars.
