Who I am
My name is Christopher Peppler and was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1947. I worked in the banking industry for over 20 years and then pastored the Lonehill Village Church in Sandton for another 30 years. In 1996 I founded the South African Theological Seminary and although I am now retired I am still on the academic faculty.
I am a passionate champion of the Christocentric (Jesus-centred) Principle, which is an approach to biblical interpretation and theological construction that emphasises the centrality of Jesus.
I am a husband, father and grandfather and so I spend quite a bit of my time with my family. I am also still involved in the life of the local church, particularly in preaching and mentoring. In addition to this, I have a site called Truth is The Word where I post every week and which acts as a repository for the books, articles, and sermons I have produced over the years.
I am a classical guitar enthusiast and play every day. In 2015 I built my own instrument under the teaching and supervision of a master craftsman located in George. I also own and play a 1970 Yairi 700 and a Yamaha NCX900FM.
